Therapy is a collaborative process between each other.
Establishing what safety looks like and making sure you feel safe in the environment and this relationship.
Art therapy is for everyone and every age!
Art therapy does not mean we have to make visual art such as painting and drawing, with any type of material, sound, or movement!
Art therapy is a flexible tool that can help us connect, process, and validate ones lived experiences and emotions.
Art therapy can be especially beneficial for people with complex trauma, as traumatic memories are often stored as fragmented images and physical sensations rather than words
I Believe…
In My Sessions
I Like To…
Build a safe and shared space where we create, connect, and explore together.
Be a source of support while navigating this big world and ourselves in it!
Bring in curiosity as well as empowering oneself and validating emotions and lived experiences.
Learn to navigate difficult emotions with patience and compassion.
Be culturally aware and checking personal privileges and dismantling an oppressive system.
Explore our stories through using creative writing, collaging, painting, sculpting movement, and music.

Hi! My name is Kat, and I am a white cisgender woman who uses she/her pronouns. I have been using the visual arts and creative writing as healing tools and forms of expression throughout my life! When I was younger I was a big musical theater kid, who loved to sing, as I got older I started to become more interested in creating with my hands with visual art and found an interest in writing stories and poems!
I graduated with my bachelor's degree from Roger Williams University with a Major in creative writing and minored in psychology and fine arts. I learned that I also had an interest in mental health and working with listening to people’s stories and emotions.
My interest in the intersections of the arts and mental health led me down the path of graduating with my master's in art therapy and mental health counseling from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois.
I believe the creative arts are a way of communication between one another. We can use creative tools such as words, music, our voice, visual arts, and movement to tell our stories and express our emotions and our selves.
When I am not working I love to snuggle up with my pitbull terrier, Henwee (Henry) and binge watch tv shows while I craft something or complete a paint by number or two.

My post-graduate experience has been focused on the creative arts and healing with complex trauma, as well as working with women of color and the LGBTQIA+ youth and adults. My values are centered around continuing to stay culturally aware and educated within my practice and bringing a sense of compassion and consideration for each person's lived experience.
I have been working at a rape crisis center with survivors of sexual violence for over two years, where I have learned the power of the creative arts and how to communicate and process sexual trauma. I have worked with all ages, with an emphasis on sexual childhood trauma and how it impacts both children and adults. With these experiences, my practice is centered around being trauma-informed and bringing in compassion, patience, and curiosity into the space.
My approach is centered around building a relationale environment that feels safe and is attending to your needs and goals for the space, while also building empowerment and working through challenges!
