INCLUSIVE MUSIC THERAPY GROUPS
CHILDREN AGES 4-21
Inclusive music therapy groups are open to youth of all abilities from ages 4 to 21. These groups focus on building self-esteem and fostering self-confidence while addressing social and communication skills. Each 8-10 week session is developed around the individual strengths and needs of the participants. A board certified music therapist facilitates active, age-appropriate music making experiences such as improvising on instruments, songwriting, singing, moving to music, and music games. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
INCLUSIVE ART THERAPY GROUPS
CHILDREN AGES 6-18
These groups aim to help individuals identify personal strengths and build self-esteem. Each 6-10 week session is developed around the individual strengths and needs of the participants. A board certified art therapist facilitates an active art making process and introduces art techniques for reducing anxiety and developing coping skills. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
WALKING THROUGH GRIEF WITH ART
CHILDREN AGES 6-18
This art therapy group is designed to offer support and coping skills for children who are in bereavement. An art therapist will lead the group in a creative process, enabling others to connect and share their feelings and experiences freely. While creating art, attendees will experience healing in a safe and caring environment. Participants will learn about themselves, life, and other people in grief, and work on a collaborative group project. Light refreshments are provided.
This group is offered on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 9:30-11:00 am. Registration is required.
THERAPEUTIC SONGWRITING GROUP
YOUTH AGES 12-16
During this inclusive music therapy group for youth ages 12-16, group members will have the opportunity to learn about the songwriting process and use the form to foster self-expression and emotional processing with a board certified music therapist. Group members will have access to physical and digital instruments to make their compositions come alive. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
CHILDREN AGES 8-12
During this inclusive music therapy group for ages 8-12, group members will explore the ukulele as a tool for creative expression by learning about ukulele basics, songwriting, and improvisation. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
ADULT MUSIC & ART THERAPY GROUPS
FOR ADULTS WITH AUTISM, DEVELOPMENTAL & INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES & ACQUIRED BRAIN DISORDERS
Through an active music and art making process led by a board certified music or art therapist, participants of these groups will build confidence, self-esteem, develop relationships with peers, be provided with opportunities for self-expression, strengthen a positive sense of self, develop tools coping with anxiety and foster creativity. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
ADULT ART THERAPY GROUP
FOR ADULTS COPING WITH CHRONIC & MEDICAL ILLNESS
This group uses the creative process of “making” to provide support for individuals living with chronic illness. Participants can explore self-expression through creating art, and share experiences in a supportive and community-oriented environment. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
ADULT MUSIC THERAPY GROUP
FOR ADULTS RECOVERING FROM STROKE & BRAIN INJURY
This group focuses on using music to promote physical, cognitive, and speech recovery following a stroke or brain injury. Through singing, instrument playing, and songwriting, participants can address individual recovery goals to improve functional skills. 2019 Spring Session Schedule & Fees Below.
ADULT ART THERAPY GROUP
FOR NEW MOM’s WITH A 1ST BORN BABY OR RECENT ADDITION TO THE FAMILY
This is a group designed for new mothers with a first-born baby or a recent addition to the family. Through a creative art directive, moms will nurture their self-esteem, connect with their identity, and collaborate with others who are learning to navigate this new parenting role. This group is intended to be informative and provide support for individuals adjusting to the daily challenges of caring for a newborn, while also learning how to grow as an independent woman. Attendees can expect to have a completed piece of art memorabilia from each session. Babies ages 0-8 months are welcome.

*Due to the nature of art supplies, this group will be best suited for infants that are NOT independently mobile yet.

The Sonatina Center offers several sessions throughout the year at the cost of $160-$200/8-10-week session.* Scholarships are available for qualifying applicants. *A $20 registration fee is due at time of registration to secure a participant's spot. The remaining balance is due by or before the first session.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION & ELIGIBILITY
Primary care youth patients of Wentworth Health Partners (WHP) practices are eligible to participate in all groups on scholarships funded generously by the Wentworth Health Foundation. To determine if your child is a patient of a WHP practice, view the practice list here. Children seeing a specialist at CHaD at WDH are also eligible to receive a scholarship for our music and art therapy groups.
